Password generator: create secure passwords at the push of a button

With our free password generator you can create strong passwords in seconds that no human can guess and no off-the-shelf computer can crack within any foreseeable time. The generator produces cryptographically secure random values directly in your browser – entirely local, with no data transfer to a server.

On average, each person manages more than 80 digital accounts: email, cloud storage, online banking, social networks, company access and more. For each of them you need a unique, strong password to protect your data. Our password generator takes this task off your hands and delivers any number of secure passwords in your desired length at the click of a button.

Create secure passwords: why self-made ones jeopardise security

According to the Hasso Plattner Institute, combinations such as "123456", "password" and "hello123" have for years been among the most popular passwords. The reason is human: we prefer patterns that are easy to remember – the name of a pet, a birth date or a favourite team. But it is precisely this predictability that makes self-chosen passwords vulnerable. A password generator eliminates this risk, as it uses no predictable patterns.

Modern attack methods such as dictionary attacks first run through entire dictionaries, followed by common number combinations and known patterns. A six-character password made up of only lowercase letters withstands a brute-force attack with current GPU hardware for less than ten seconds. Whoever wants to create a secure password that is 16 characters long and mixes upper-/lowercase letters, digits and special characters produces a secure password that would take trillions of years to decrypt computationally.

How a single weak password turns into a chain reaction

A compromised email password can open far more than just the inbox. Attackers use the access systematically to log into further services:

  • Via the "forgot password" function they gain access to linked accounts such as PayPal, Amazon or social media
  • Stored credit card details, addresses and phone numbers are misused for identity theft
  • The hijacked account serves as the sender of phishing emails to your entire contact list
  • In a business context, internal systems, customer data and confidential documents can be exposed

How our password generator works

Our generator uses the Web Crypto API – the same technology that banks and companies also use for cryptographic operations. Unlike simple random generators, this interface produces genuine cryptographic random numbers that are neither predictable nor reproducible.

The password generator works in three steps: first you choose the desired password length – we recommend at least 16 characters for standard accounts and 24+ characters for highly sensitive access. Then you determine the complexity: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, special characters or even umlauts. Finally, you click "Generate password" and immediately receive one or more secure passwords.

Maximum security through variety

Always combine uppercase and lowercase letters with numbers and special characters. This way you use the generator to create secure, strong passwords whose crack time rises exponentially.

Length over complexity

Every additional character multiplies the possible combinations. A 20-character password made up only of letters is more secure than an 8-character password with full complexity.

One password per account

If one service is hacked, all other accounts stay secure. Use our password generator to create an individual password for every account and protect your data – whether private or in business.

Passphrases as a memory aid

For the master password of your password manager, a passphrase of four to six random words is ideal – easy to remember, secure and extremely hard to crack.

Brute force, phishing and co.: the most common attack routes

Cybercriminals rely on various methods to obtain access credentials. In a brute-force attack, all possible combinations are tried systematically – modern graphics cards manage over ten billion attempts per second. Dictionary attacks work with lists of known passwords and common patterns. Credential stuffing uses login data captured in earlier data breaches and tries it on other platforms.

Against all these methods, a secure password randomly generated with the password generator offers the best protection. It contains no patterns, no words and no personal reference. Combined with two-factor authentication (2FA), access is not compromised even if the password really does fall into the wrong hands.

Password manager: secure storage for private and business use

Randomly generated passwords such as k7$Tn!xQ9p&Wm2Lv are maximally secure but impossible to remember. A password manager solves this dilemma: it encrypts all your credentials in a digital vault that is opened with a single master password. It also fills in login fields automatically and securely synchronises your passwords across smartphone, laptop and tablet – ideal for everyday business.

Proven solutions for different requirements:

  • KeePass – open source and fully offline. Ideal for users who want to keep their data secure and local
  • Bitwarden – open source with cloud synchronisation. Free basic version for individuals
  • 1Password – commercial, with a focus on ease of use. Convenient family sharing and travel mode

Password security in companies and business

In companies in particular, strong passwords are part of professional everyday life – for IT professionals, developers and system administrators as well as across the entire business environment. Server access, SSH keys, database credentials and API tokens require the highest security. A single weak password in the chain can endanger sensitive data and the entire company.

Use our password generator to create secure passwords with at least 24 characters for your infrastructure and protect critical data. For particularly sensitive systems we recommend 32 or even 64 characters – no problem with our password generator, as you can freely choose the length between 4 and 128.

Password generator: create strong passwords in three steps

  • Generate: Use our password generator with at least 16 characters and special characters enabled to obtain a truly secure password.
  • Store: Save every generated password in a password manager. That way you only need to remember a single master password.
  • Secure: Enable two-factor authentication everywhere – whether private or in business. Even a cracked password is then no longer enough for unauthorised access.

Frequently asked questions

Our password generator uses your browser's Web Crypto API to produce cryptographically secure random numbers. These are used to generate strong passwords made up of the character types you select. Generation happens entirely locally on your device – your data stays safe and protected.
